Become a VITA Volunteer

Are you ready to make a meaningful difference in the lives of families in need? Join our team of VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Volunteers! 

As a VITA Volunteer, you'll:

  • Receive specialized training from a certified VITA instructor.

  • Access IRS online courses to enhance your knowledge.

  • Commit your time – 3 to 4 hours per week, or even full days – from the last week in January through the April filing deadline.

  • Prior tax preparation experience is not required; commitment to training and certification is required.

Have you experienced poverty? Are you a member of an under-represented or historically excluded group? Do you possess valuable insights into the challenges faced by those in need?

SEVCA is actively seeking community members from Windsor or Windham Counties to join our Board of Directors.

We're looking for individuals with skills in areas such as:

  • Legal expertise

  • Fundraising experience

  • Governance know-how

  • Financial acumen

  • Multi-year budget planning

  • Human resources insight

  • Assessment and strategic planning

  • Early childhood education

  • Social work expertise

  • Diversity and inclusion commitment

As a board member, you'll play a vital role in implementing solutions to poverty-related issues. Together, we'll empower and collaborate with those affected by poverty daily.

Background Checks Required

Volunteer applicants must be willing to submit to criminal background checks and offender registry checks. Our federally-funded grants mandate these requirements for all our employees, vendor contractors, and volunteers.
