Micro Business Start-up Training

This training provides a two- phase approach for the seasoned, skilled dislocated workers who have been recently laid off or who may be re-entering the workforce due to the loss of other family income. This is an intensive program that provides participants with comprehensive classroom training, one-on-one business coaching, and connections to additional financial and other resources. Phase 1 consists of a 220 hour curriculum culminating in the presentation of a Business Plan. Phase 2 is not as structured, and is primarily devoted toward implementing the Business Plan supported by group meetings, peer group work, and one-on-one business coaching.

Duration: 14 weeks; 3 days/week; 5 hours/day 20 hours for Phase 1

Prerequisites: Evidence of a successful part-time business, or - Previous full-time employment that can easily transfer to a private business enterprise, or - Evidence of due diligence in researching business opportunities.

Cost: Training assistance may be available through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) based on federal requirements of WIA and the availability of funds at the time of enrollment.
